Wednesday Addams. Wear a black dress/skirt with a white collared shirt. If you can, put on a black long sleeve shirt over the collared shirt, and add white knee socks, black shoes, dark makeup, and braid your hair for the finishing touch!

My husband dressed up as a picnic table one year at last minute, to match our son's ant costume. He cut out a big rectangle from a cardboard box, and hot glued some of the kids' toy food onto it, including a tablecloth and toy dishes. Then he hung it around his neck using some yarn, and voila! A picnic table. It was done in less than 30 minutes, and he got so many compliments!

A black cat is pretty easy to throw together using stuff you already have at home. Just wear all black, and draw whiskers and a nose on your face with eye liner. Add kitty ears using black triangles cut out of construction paper (tape them on a headband or pin them on with bobby pins), and if possible, find something to use as a tail, like a black belt, tie or sash.

Mario or Luigi - you really just need overalls and a red or green shirt! Bonus if you can find a matching cap.

Farmer, with denim jeans/overalls, a flannel shirt and boots. You can also add a bandana or broad rimmed hat - preferably made of straw!

We did a Harry Potter family halloween costume last year, and by far the best costume of the bunch was our 5-year-old as Dobby. It was also the easiest! I took a king-sized, beige pillowcase, cut holes at the top (along the seam) for his head, and next to it on each side, a hole for each arm, and volia! The costume was pretty much done. (We had him wear a tank top and shorts underneath his pillowcase. :)) I did crochet a simple knit cap to serve as a bald cap, and added elf ears to it, but this was extra and he didn't wear it the whole time, so you can easily get along without it. Or, cut elf ears out of construction paper to bobby pin on your head!

You can DIY a bear costume by dressing all in brown (or black, or white) and adding round ears cut out of construction paper, pinning them on your head with bobby pins.
