    Shamrock Scavenger Hunt

Cut out paper shamrocks and hang them up throughout your home. How many can you count? Can you find a lucky shamrock with 4 leaves? There are many free shamrock printables online. You can even ask your neighbors to stick them on their front windows, and while on a walk around the block, see how many shamrocks your kids can find!

    Make a Leprechaun Trap

Have the kids construct a leprechaun trap to capture any leprechauns that visit overnight. They're bound to escape somehow, but might leave behind some candy!

    Origami Shamrock

Shila:  If your kids like easy origami, have them try making their own lucky shamrock as a fun St Patrick's Day activity. My tween was very proud of hers after we worked on it together with this video tutorial.

    Leprechaun Tricks

St Patrick's Day fun can come with a little mischief too! From green streamers that barricade a bedroom door to swapping out shoelaces with green string, kids love discovering silly tricks played by the leprechaun!

    Sidewalk Chalk Rainbows

Have some St Patrick's Day fun by chalking some rainbows onto your sidewalk or driveway! Try an end-of-the-rainbow hunt with a small pot of treasures to discover.

    Wear Green

Shila:  Wearing green is one of the most traditional St Patrick's Day activities for kids - and if you don't, you may receive an unwanted pinch!

    Shamrock Shake

Shila:  One of our favorite St Patrick's Day activities is hitting up McDonald's to order their seasonal vanilla and mint green Shamrock Shake.

    Pot of Gold Rock Painting

Shila:  Have the kids collect a handful of rocks and then paint each bright yellow (with a dash of glitter!) to create what looks like a "pot of gold." The leprechaun can switch out the painted rocks overnight for chocolate coins, candy, small gifts or even money!

Hot Cocoa with Lucky Charms Marshmallows

Shila:  Enjoy some hot chocolate with your kids St. Patrick's Day style! Of course that'll mean using whipped cream and green sprinkles. I recommend garnishing the mug with a handful of Lucky Charms marshmallows, too!

    Make Rainbow Pancakes

Sarah Calamita:  My kids love making all the different batters and adding food coloring. Added bonus making them clover shaped, whipped cream and St. Patrick's Day sprinkles on top!

    Watch an Irish Movie

Kelly R:  Plan to enjoy an Irish-inspired movie on your next family movie night. Depending on the age of your kids, you might try The Secret of Roan Inish, Leap Year, or even Rudy!

    Green Milk

Shila:  Adding green food coloring to your family's carton of milk is a fun St Patrick's Day surprise for the kids! Or if you can hide a drop at the bottom of their cereal bowls, watch the whole bowl miraculously turn green as you splash in the milk!

    Bake Irish Soda Bread

Prepare a traditional Irish recipe in honor of St. Patrick's Day! Irish Soda Bread can be made from scratch quite simply to enjoy with butter or jam. Optional add-ons can include sugar, raisins, chocolate chips, or herbs like rosemary.

    Plant Shamrocks

Planting your own shamrocks is a fun St Patrick's Day activity that will get your family excited for the start of spring.

    Read St. Patrick's Day Books
