When to send out birthday party invitations?

Weekends fill up so quickly for us that I like to receive invitations around 3-4 weeks ahead of time. Enough time to make sure we prioritize any parties for my kids' closest friends, but not so far in advance that I need to delay RSVPing while we're waiting to see what else we might have going on.
