I'm so interested to see the responses to this question! We do let our kids stay up later than normal during school breaks, and sleep late in the mornings. But, for the final 2-3 nights of the break, we get them to bed at their normal time and wake them up early so the transition isn't as hard when school starts again.

We do pretty much the same thing although it still always seems to be a hard transition to get up early again when school starts back up.

This is smart! My kids decided to start sleeping in a couple days before going back to school and that first morning back was ROUGH!

With this last break, it was kind of 'anything goes,' but I'd like to say that we normally keep a schedule even during school vacations.

My kids will stay up later when they have a school break or holiday, however if we have something special planned for the holiday and still need to leave the house early, I try to get them to bed at the same time. But most school holidays, I will work from home/or a venue with WiFi and take care of the kids so we aren't in a huge rush to leave the house in the morning.

Yes to venues with free WiFi!

It is SO great Kristy! I love working from the library, IKEA, Legoland, Mall and anywhere else the kids can play and be happy and I can actually get work done without them missing a beat.

I let them stay up a little late during school vacations if I'm off from work and we don't have anywhere to be. My older boy typically is up at 6 am no matter what time he goes to bed so letting him stay up often backfires for me.

I have one of those kids too, who also happens to be my oldest.

My oldest used to wake up at 6 am on the dot without fail up since he was a baby until a year or so ago. Now he'll sleep until 7 and sometimes 7:30 which I am still not used to, but gladly welcome it!

That is a good question. I still wake up at the normal time as I need to get to work on time. However with our two oldest, we do allow them to stay up a little later than on school nights.

My kids usually get to stay up later on school breaks if we don’t have anything early in the morning to get to. And they are finally learning to sleep in (a little).
