When did your kids stop sleeping in a crib?

Wondering when we should even begin to think about buying a toddler bed for my daughter! When does this happen most often, and what have your experiences been?

One of mine was two, and the other was three. We skipped the toddler bed altogether and moved straight to the regular bed that they'll grow up with, which for my kids is a full size.

We did the same with both of our kids - my daughter was 2 and my son was 3. We used a full size mattress and pushed one side against a wall and had a collapsible rail on the other side that slid between the mattress and box springs so it was not permanent. Worked great for both of our kiddos!

I do like this idea- it's less to buy and then they get used to sleeping in a bigger bed earlier!

Well we had our kids 17 months apart so we didn’t want to buy two cribs so our oldest was only 12 months when we moved her. However she had a bed rail, high foot/head rail and the other side was against the wall. So basically a crib. Our other two are three years apart so my middle child was out around 2.

I guess with rails it's a safer option to move them to a bed earlier so it makes it not as big of a deal! My little one rolls around so much in her crib a bed still makes me nervous!

We had to move the oldest two when the new baby was on the way which was 20 months and a little after 2. I thought my third would stay in her crib the longest but she learned to jump out right around 2 so we converted the crib to a day bed and she slept in that until about 3 when we got he a regular bed.

Oh dear, jumping out of the crib is one of my worst fears, but I know it's bound to happen!

I'll let you know once she starts... Still co-sleeping at 11 months haha.

We tried cry it out at 10 month, but my daughter started to pull herself out of the crib while we were watching on the baby monitor. We ran in and my husband caught her just as she flipped over the rail head first. After that we basically turned her whole room into a crib by putting a mattress on the floor and everything else in the closet. At 2 we put a low twin bed in the room with the mattress next to it, so if she rolled off the bed, she would fall less than 1ft onto the mattress, but I don't think that ever happened (at least, not unintentionally while sleeping). Not the transition we expected, but it worked out.

Oh my gosh, that is one adventurous 10 month old! I don't think my daughter was pulling up at all in the crib yet let alone flipping over the rail! Sounds like you found a perfect solution though!
