My oldest did one year of Cub Scouts when he was in 1st Grade. We had a terrible experience because his pack leader was so strict and wouldn't let the boys do much. My youngest is in Kindergarten and in her first year of Girl Scouts. She seems to love it so far. She just started selling cookies so we'll see how she feels after that.

Our oldest is in kindergarten, so we are still newbies to the school scene and everything that that entails. We signed him up for Cub Scouts, and he does seem to be enjoying it. They have had some neat opportunities and activities throughout the year.

My boys have never shown an interest in Cub Scouts. I know others who are in Cub Scouts and they enjoy it though. I would look into it if my kids wanted to, but so far, they haven't.

Same here, and we have a pretty busy schedule as is, so I wouldn't push them if they weren't super into it.

Yes, I hear that. We are always busy going places and to events. It's one of the reasons we haven't done too many long term organized programs except for swimming lessons and reading buddies. I like having a flexible schedule to do what we want, also. But if my kids were interested for Scouts, I would sign them up.

We signed my older son up for Cub Scouts in first grade and he only lasted a year. He enjoyed most of it, but he ended up being more interested in other activities so we didn't continue it. My younger son never had an interest in joining. I have great memories of being in Girl Scouts but it definitely isn't for everyone.
