We like to eat around 4:00 or a little earlier. This means we don't need to race (and wake up extra early!) to get the meal on the table by lunchtime. And the entire day isn't spent in the kitchen leading up to a later dinnertime. There is plenty of time to digest and do dishes while still having more of the day to enjoy together, and anyone who gets hungry again later can help themselves to leftovers.

We invite out-of-town family, so our Thanksgiving dinner typically starts around 4pm (opening up the home around 1) which allows them to wake up casually and not rush the drive. We typically snack all day on delicious appetizers!
