I told only my mother. I didn't want anyone's opinion on our name choices and I didn't want to be locked into a name, just in case we changed our minds.

I had SO MANY friends who were pregnant at the same time as me, and my husband and I felt strongly about "reserving" our name choice as soon as we could!

      Good point!

I shared the names for each of my children because a lot of our family and friends wanted to give personalized gifts with their names or monograms for shower presents.

I did. I didn’t want to engage in conversations where people had a chance to tell me that they didn’t like the name. The fact that I said this is our child’s name did not give anyone a chance to talk us out of the name. However, we did not for our first child because we did not know boy or girl.

We had lists going into the hospital for our kids. We wanted to see the baby first before we decided on a name. Oh and my mom can be very opinionated so I knew I didn't want to share anything with her!

All three of my kids came early, so we were only decided with a name for my first at the time of birth! We didn't tell anyone because I didn't want opinions on my choice,, though I did tell my family several that we were considering. My daughter was 5 weeks early and being the third kid, we were super behind on everything, and had absolutely no idea what her name was going to be when she was born!

The first time we shared the name as we were very excited but we quickly learned to keep it to ourselves as some people were a little too honest with their opinions so didn't share when we were expecting the second time and by the third time we shared the name but only with close family!
