Meramec Caverns
Lisa R said: Missouri is also known as "The Cave State" and if you want to know why, look no further than Meramec Caverns. Filled with beautifully colored natural mineral formations, this 400 million year old cave is both stunning and historically important. 80 minute tours along lighted paths teach visitors about how the caves were once served as a home for Native Americans, a mine, a dance hall, a hideout for Jesse James, and more. Tours cover 1.25 miles of stairs & uneven surfaces. Guides may demonstrate total darkness. No strollers.
