Visiting New Hampshire's White Mountains with Kids
In the White Mountains, there is truly something to do during each season. In spring, you can view the blooming flowers and trees as you hike a mountain trail. In summer, you can swim through a natural waterfall or tube downriver. In fall, you'll be mesmerized by the reds and golds of foliage as you drive over covered bridges and through quaint towns. In winter, you can ski the slopes and explore castles of ice.
Here are our picks for the best family friendly things to do in the White Mountains - please share yours, too!
Zeb's General Store
Amanda Banta said: Candy? Check. Maple products? Check. NH gear? Check. Specialty snacks, soaps, home goods, toys? CHECK. Whatever you're looking to take home as a reminder of your White Mountains getaway, Zeb's General Store has it. Zeb's even has created their own line of food products, which includes the very popular old-fashioned soda pop they sell in the store. Grab a few bottles of root beer to pop open while you sit on the adorable front porch and take another look at the gorgeous mountains in front of you.

Amanda Banta said: Kids will get a hands-on experience as they explore weather and science at the Mount Washington Observatory Weather Discovery Center. Kids will be fascinated by the lifesize tornado created within the center and they also can learn about the work being done by the weather observers on Mount Washington. The center is a great option to keep the kids busy on a rainy day or when you need a couple of hours break from the outdoors activities.

The Return of the Pumpkin People
Amanda Banta said: A beloved October event, the Return of the Pumpkin People showcases the Pumpkin People doing ordinary and extraordinary things in more than 80 locations around the town of Jackson. Local businesses decorate pumpkins and set up the scenes, trying to outdo each other each year. Kids will recognize favorite characters and laugh at the outrageous exploits some of the "People" find themselves in. The event is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and maps and voting ballots can be around at the participating businesses.
Cost: Free.
