    Wachusett Mountain Resort

    Amanda Banta:  Wachusett Mountain offers 27 trails for skiing and snowboarding, with a nearly even mix of novice, intermediate and advanced trails across its 110 acres. Equipment rentals are available onsite and ski and snowboard lessons are available for youths (age 4+) and adults.

    Amanda Banta:  Nine downhill trails over 45 acres make Ski Ward a family-friendly location for skiing and snowboarding less than an hour outside of Boston. Ski Ward offers ski and snowboard lessons for kids starting at age 3, along with one to five day programs during winter school vacation weeks.

    Nashoba Valley Ski Area

    Amanda Banta:  Just 25 miles from Boston, Nashoba Valley Ski Area offers 17 trails for downhill skiing and snowboarding fun. Half of the mountain's trails are of an intermediate level, with the rest split between beginner and advanced trails.

    Lessons for kids start at age 3. Nashoba also offers school vacation week lesson packages.

    Leo J. Martin Ski Track

    Amanda Banta:  Cross country skiing and snowshoeing can be found just 15 minutes outside of Boston at the Leo J. Martin Ski Track, part of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.

    Blue Hills Ski Area

With 16 trails for every level of skier and snowboarder, Blue Hills offers an opportunity for everyone in the family to hit the slopes this winter.     Amanda Banta:  Ski Bradford in Haverhill offers 15 downhill trails, with about half of the trails being of the beginner and intermediate levels, making the area a friendly destination for all the skiers and snowboarders in your family. Ski Bradford offers ski and snowboard lessons. The thrill seekers in your family can check out the jumps and rails at the Terrain Park.
