The museum has a number of offerings for families and children including several different teen programs and on select Saturdays join in on a special "family affair" event which connects parents and young ones with the work in the museum to inspire their own pieces.

Play some of his songs for your children (including The Bare Necessities which was adapted for Disney's The Jungle Book) and then go see Armstrong's house and garden where children can learn about Armstrong's life, legacy and his influence as an African-American artist in the 1960s.

Part of the original Dyckman Family property, the Dyckman Farmhouse allows kids to explore what life was like for this once farming community uptown. Tours are self-guided and there are plenty of ways children can get involved including exploring a model wooden barrack that Revolutionary war soldiers would have used.
