My Gym Fishers
Erin P.: Tiny Tykes at My Gym is for babes from 7 - 13 months. In this parent and child class, little ones begin to develop physical and cognitive skills. In Waddlers, little ones from 14 - 22 months will enjoy balancing, tumbling, hanging and agility skills. In Gymsters, kiddos from 23 months - 2.5 years begin to work in a more structured format and will enjoy singing, dancing and more. Terrific Tots is a pre-gymnastics class for 2.5 - 3.5-year olds. Mighty Mites is for 3.5 - 4.5-year olds. They will work on beginning gymnastics.
Gymnastics Unlimited
Erin P.: Gymnastics Unlimited offers their Little Learners Program. These classes are designed for children ages 6 years and younger. Their program begins with Jolly Jumpers, a parent and tot class, and progresses to more advanced levels as little gymnasts achieve certain requirements. Little ones will love learning basic gymnastics skills, including on the vault, bars, beam, floor and trampoline. Goals of each class include working on hand-eye coordination, large and small motor skills, peer relationships, conquering fears, and more!
YMCA of Greater Indianapolis
Erin P.: The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis offers Shoobeeloo Music & Movement, which is a child/adult class which helps little ones expand their musical horizons in a fun and active way.
The Gymnastics Company
Erin P.: The Gymnastics Company offers Roll-E-Pollies, a class for little ones with their caregiver. Participants will explore physical activities, learn new skills and socialize! Their next-level class, Saltoing Sprouts, is for 3-4 year olds. It is a teacher-student class, but it is taught within an atmosphere that easily accommodates little ones who are still learning to separate from their parents. Students will learn the basics of gymnastics while also developing patience and control in a positive environment.
The Music Playhouse
Erin P.: The Music Playhouse offers classes to build a strong musical foundation in young minds. Their curriculum presents a broad exposure to many types of music and they employ award-winning materials to present the content. Infant is designed for babies who have not started walking yet and their parents. Teachers promote parent-child bonding and musical exposure through songs, finger plays and lullabies. Music Pups is for ages birth - 5 years and offers singing, dancing, movement and instrument play. They even offer a Sound Habits - Keyboarding class, which is a rare opportunity to enjoy a parent/child class with your child as old as 7-years old!
DeVeau's School of Gymnastics
Erin P.: Deveau's School of Gymnastics offers three different levels of their Parent & Me classes: Crawling Cubs (6 months +), Walking Wallabys (12 months – 2 years), and Jumping Jacks (2 years +). Children explore movement and exercise with very basic gymnastic moves. The goals of their classes are to encourage parent-child interaction and build gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Dance Creations Academy
Erin P.: Dance Creations Academy offers several great dance classes for toddlers and preschoolers. The youngest dancers (17M - 3Y) will love Mommy & Me Dancing. Dancing Princesses is for 3 - 5-year olds. These little ones will love dancing and twirling to their favorite princess music. If they enjoy this class, try the Ballet and Tap class next. Both of these classes will have a showcase at the end for parents!
Dana Mannix Gymnastics
Erin P.: Dana Mannix Gymnastics offers preschool classes in three age ranges. Turbo Tots is for little ones from 18-30 months old. The goal is to develop early physical and social skills. Next, 2.5Y - 3.5Y olds will love their classes, which include obstacle courses, swinging on bars, jumping on trampolines, walking on balance beams, and more! The oldest group of preschool age children (4Y - 5Y) will work on more advanced skills on the bars, beam and vault, as well as cartwheels and handstands.
Dance Connection
Erin P.: Dance Connection offers three different classes for kiddos age 5 and younger: Lil' Steppers, Next Step and Combo. Tiny dancers will practice basic motor skills as they learn new dance steps and improve their balance, coordination and confidence. Lil' Steppers will work on their rhythm and timing. Dancers in the Next Step and Combo classes will spend time in each class working on tap, ballet/creative movement and tumbling.
Tippy Toes School of Dance
Erin P.: Tippy Toes School of Dance offers Mommy and Me Dance for toddlers as well as preschool dance classes. Parents are welcome to observe during the preschool classes. In both of these classes, little ones can explore the world of dance in a comfortable environment. Instructors strive to make beginning dance both fun and affordable.
Pink Slipper Dance Studio
Erin P.: The Pink Slipper Dance Studio offers several toddler classes, in which the class goals and skills advance with each new level. The youngest dancers (18M - 2Y) can get their dancing toes wet with the adorable Fairy Footsteps class. This Mommy & Me class will introduce creative movement using listening skills, imagination and lots of props. Ballet skills and technique will be introduced at each subsequent class level: 2.5/3Y, 3Y, 4Y.
Gymboree Play & Music
Erin P.: Gymboree Play & Music offers a variety of classes for babes, tots and preschoolers, divided into several age ranges. Class options include: Walkers, Runners, Explorers, and School Skills. Your little ones will get to explore physical movement, problem-solving and navigating skills, and imaginary play while also practicing social skills and memory building.
Musical Beginnings
Erin P.: Musical Beginnings has classes for tots, as well as offerings for slightly older children. Babies from newborn - 18M and their parents will enjoy bonding time and an early introduction to music through cuddling, bouncing, playing and moving. Toddlers from ages 1.5 - 3 will also enjoy bonding with their parents and instrument exploration, ensemble skill development, vocal play and movement activities. Preschoolers from ages 3 - 5 will engage in pretend play, singing and storytelling.
The Little Gym of Carmel
Erin P.: The Little Gym of Carmel offers fun classes for tots that are based on movement and active play. Parent-child classes are for little ones from 4-months old to 3-years-old. These classes aim to help your child develop in physical movement, early learning, and confidence and independence. They also offer gymnastics for ages 3 - 6. These classes help to develop strength, flexibility, and coordination as well as spatial awareness, math and language skills, and listening skills.
Goldfish Swim School
Erin P.: Goldfish Swim School offers "Mini" and "Junior" categories of swim lessons for the little guppies in your life. Mini-lessons are for ages 4 - 35 months. Adult participation is required for under 24 months and limited to certain sessions from 24 - 35 months. The Junior lessons are 3 - 4 year-olds. There is no parent participation for this group. All classes in both the Mini and the Junior sections are 30 minutes. Requirements vary by section, from no prior experience necessary to some basic swim skills required. There is a section for every level of swimmer!
Spectrum Sports Gymnastics
Erin P.: In the preschool gymnastics classes at Spectrum Sports Gymnastics, your child will learn listening skills, following directions, and coordination skills. Instructors will work with students to teach them about movement and body control and to introduce them to gymnastics equipment. There are four levels of preschool classes, divided by age: Wiggler, Bumper, Romper, and Super Tromper.
Lil' Kickers
Erin P.: Lil’ Kickers soccer has programs for kids from 18 months through 12 years. They offer three different age levels of parent and child classes: 18 - 24 months, 2 - 3 years, 2.5 - 3.5 years. They use fun-filled activities to teach soccer skills as well as how to be a good team member and an active, confident and well-balanced young person. Classes are 50-minutes long and led by energetic and highly-trained coaches.
Indy Parks & Recreation
Erin P.: Indy Parks & Recreation offers a variety of classes for people of all ages. They offer a parent and child gymnastics class in which little ones can explore climbing, hanging, balancing, and event tumbling with the support of their parent. Little gymnasts can learn new skills on the bar, balance beam, trampoline and event vault.
Little Big Art: Color Fun - Indianapolis Art Center
Beth Wood: The Indianapolis Art Center offers a Little Big Art class for children ages 2-4 and an adult. This hour long class will let your little artist and their caregivers create art together while playing and having fun. Projects include mixed media, drawing and painting. All supplies provided in class. Registration required.
Meridian Music School
Erin P.: Meridian Music School offers toddler and preschool classes in three age ranges. Toddler Tunes for 18M - 3Y is a parent and child class that makes use of rhythm, finger plays, active movement, keyboard exploration, and singing to introduce little ones to the world of music. Toddler Tunes for 2.5Y - 3.5Y is very similar, but for slightly older little ones who aren't quite ready for the next stage. Music in Me for 3.5Y - 4.5Y has a strong emphasis on creativity and introduces ear training, solfege, singing, movement, keyboard activities, and pitch and rhythm.
Indianapolis Children's Choir
Erin P.: Indianapolis Children's Choir offers early childhood classes to help students achieve their potential in singing, vocabulary and movement skills. The classes are created to be playful and enjoyable for the tiny participants. The curriculum includes developmentally appropriate challenges and activities. Classes include singing, creative movement, simple instruments, finger plays and more. Parents attend the classes. Classes are held at Butler University and other regional locations. Classes run 45 minutes.
Indy Infant Swimming Resource
Erin P.: Infant Swimming Resource has been in existence for over 50 years, operating under their misson, “Not One More Child Drowns.” They strive to keep infants and young children safe in and around water. They offer short, but intense, one-on-one lessons to teach water safety skills, self-rescue skills, including rollback-to-float and swim-float-swim. They also include parent education on water safety and drowning prevention.
Hoosier Gymnastics Training Center
Erin P.: Hoosier Gymnastics Training Center offers parent and child gymnastics classes for little ones from 18 months through 2.5 years. They also have preschool classes, divided by age rage: 2.5 - 3, 3 - 4, and 4 - 5.
