
After your son or daughter has gone through swimming lessons for kids and learned the basics, a next great step is joining a competitive swim team. These Chicago area swim teams for kids are a great way to build stroke technique while competing in a team environment.
Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club
Kristy Pepping: The Chicago Wolfpack Aquatics Club (CWAC) offers both developmental and competitive swimming. They help swimmers at every level and provide each child with the best possible resources, allowing them to progress from novice to the highest level of competition.

Lyons Swim Club
Kristy Pepping: Lyons Swim Club is a year round competitive swim program. Swim practice takes place at either Lyons Township High School – South or LyonsTownship High School – North. The purpose of the Club is to develop swim abilities in all aspects of the aquatic sport. All kids will need to try out for the swim program. These take place in August each year.

Lake Forest Swim Club
Kristy Pepping: Lake Forest Swim Club offers several levels of competitive swimming beginning at age 5. Their program is designed for swimmers who have reached the top levels of swim lessons and gotten the most out of this format. Your child must complete an evaluation if you are new to the Club and these are offered year-round.

Coho Swim Club
Kristy Pepping: Coho swimmers will meet two times a week for most levels. They will rotate activities, but also build upon the essential swimming skills. Swim meets are one time a month for the beginner levels and the more advanced levels, have more. All swimmers are required to purchase the team swim suit and cap. Try-outs for first time members are required. Please note: must be in district 109, 112 and 113 for the program.

Life Time Fitness Illinois Swim Team
Kristy Pepping: This team is a year round competitive swim team offering great coaching and technique for all ages and abilities. The goal is to provide every team member the ability to improve swimming skills and achieve continued growth in their age bracket.

Wheaton Swim Club
Kristy Pepping: Wheaton Swim Club is a member of USA Swimming and Illinois Swimming. Their swim team is for all levels and provides a great step into area high school programs. They accept new members throughout the year. The Wheaton Swim Club swims at Wheaton College. Registration is available to all local communities and districts.

Palatine Tiger Sharks
Yoli B: The Palatine Park District swim team competes year round and offers coaching for all ages and abilities. The coaches are top notch and all are members of the American Swim Coaches Association. The team guarantees that all members will improve swimming skills and achieve success at their level.

Naperville YMCA Porpoises
Kristy Pepping: The Naperville Y offers a competitive swim team. You must come in for a try-out if you are a first-time swimmer. Plus, if you are not a member of the Y, you will need to sign up to become one. This program runs September through Mid-March. This swim team accepts as many swimmers, from as wide a variety of competitive backgrounds. Practices are either held at the South Naperville or North Naperville Y location depending on what level your swimmer qualifies for.

Fox Valley Swim Team
Kristy Pepping: Fox Valley Swim Team offers two levels. For new swimmers, they will sign up for a try-out and then be placed into one of these two groups. The Team Development Group is designed for novice swimmers that either are not ready for the regular team or cannot commit to the practice schedule. This group practices three times per week, mostly in the small pool, and are eligible for home meets only. The Team level will practice several times a week and compete in 7-9 meets.

Maverick Swim Club
Kristy Pepping: The Maverick Swim Club is a USA Swimming member club. They offer competitive swim team programs from beginning to elite level. Swimmers can choose to compete in the winter short course season, summer long course season or both. New swimmers who want to join must come to an evaluation by a Maverick Coach prior to registering.

Homewood Flossmoor Swim Club
SophiaS: Founded in 1981 by a small group of families, Homewood Flossmoor Swim Club has grown to over 120 members run by a Parent Board.
Being on a swim team is an opportunity to reach fulfilment and growth at many levels: mentally, physically, and spiritually. HFSC was formed and has been dedicated to providing swimmers of varying abilities and levels this opportunity. Because most young people have varying levels of commitment to the sport, our team encourages any swimmer who enjoys the sport to participate in our program.
