Sarah D.:  The East Texas Arboretum is an idyllic 100 acres of trees, flowers, and wildlife. This Arboretum boasts an array of quaint attractions sure to be enjoyed by children of any age. Take, for example, the Little Red Schoolhouse, a replica of an early Texas schoolhouse that can be toured (arrangements must be made in advance). With a variety of gardens and trails, the East Texas Arboretum is a fantastic way to spend a peaceful day in nature in with the family.

The Heard has indoor exhibits on the Texas natural environment, plus miles of nature trails that wind though the diverse habitats of the 289-acre wildlife sanctuary. Don't miss the Animal Encounters Trail, home to non-releasable animal ambassadors like lemurs and bobcats.

Located on the shores of White Rock Lake, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens has beautiful views as you stroll through flowers, trees, gardens and art installations. The fabulous Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden (open seasonally) has many activities to help children explore and experience nature.

The Gardens boast an array of adventures including a variety of garden walks, a butterfly house, and a Snakes of Texas exhibit (for the more adventuresome kiddos in your group)! You'll find a butterfly garden, ponds, a large fountain at the Great Lawn, and so much more. The wildscape stretches across 4 acres of the park and contains an array of wildflowers native to north Texas. Volunteers preserve and maintain the park. The garden itself is a historic landmark, known for it's ornate Chinese architecture and English-style gardens. The gardens are built upon a 3.5-acre estate complete with gardens, a waterfall, fountains and the peaceful enjoyment of the beauty of nature. This a is a great place to enjoy a quiet afternoon stroll with the kids!

Sarah D.:  Clark Gardens set out to create a lush oasis in the Texas desert, and they did! This peaceful garden offers 50 acres of garden paradise including winding paths (suitable for strollers), waterfalls, ponds and lakes with swans and other brilliant waterfowl, and a peacock or two strutting about. The Gardens make the adventure a bit more interactive with their helpful butterfly and bird guides as well as children's playhouse and train station! A wonderful way for all to enjoy a day in the gardens!
