DuPage Children's Museum - Music & Movement Time
Children love expressing themselves through music and this is a perfect opportunity to foster that desire. It is a great way for them to get moving and communicate with their bodies while enjoying the kid friendly songs and get in some awesome socialization with other children. The drop in event lasts 20 minutes so there will be plenty of time to explore the rest of the museum before or after.
Billy Boy's Blueberry Barn
Located just about an hour drive from Chicago (and just minutes from the Indiana Dunes, in case you're looking for weekend getaway ideas!), this farm has 10 acres of blueberries to walk through and pick off the tree to put in your bucket (or your mouth). There are seven different varieties that bloom throughout the season with a range of size and sweetness. Be sure to grab one of their blueberry pies or delicious blueberry muffins. They also sell their own honey!
Paddleboat Quarry Naperville Riverwalk
Located right in bustling downtown Naperville, you can rent a paddleboat or a single or tandem kayak and take a ride down the river. When you're done, you can take a stroll around the town and find a spot to grab some lunch!
Chicago River Paddle
Chicago River Paddle operates rentals and multiple parks in Chicagoland. Their Skokie Lagoon spot is great for beginner level paddlers due to their flat waters. It is in a lush forest preserve setting, giving you lots of scenery to take in as you float along. Maple Park is a gorgeous area nestled in the Palos forest preserves. When you're not boating, you can check out the awesome hiking trails or climb the bluff at Swallow Cliff. Busse Lake is full of wildlife to observe while you row or paddle along. They offer single & tandem kayaks, canoes, and fishing boats available for rental. Five locations in total.
Copycat Trader Joe's Chili Lime Chicken Burgers
I love homemade burger patties and this easy recipe inspired by Trader Joe's is simple and delicious. I also like that it sneaks in some veggies to the burger for some added nutrition. Check out the homemade guacamole recipe included for a tasty topper! Make these ahead of time and freeze for later by following the directions included.

Whole-Wheat Toaster Pastries
My whole family loves pop tarts but they contain so much added sugar and other less than desirable ingredients. This recipe includes mostly ingredients that you would already have on hand. It has been a big hit in our house and can be made ahead and kept in the freezer for a quick afternoon snack or even just for busy mornings. From 100 Days of Real Food
