Is it your family tradition to visit the Easter Bunny?

We have not done Easter Bunny pictures. We do like to visit Santa at Christmas time, but just haven't gotten into seeing the Easter Bunny.

Have you ever used a child leash?

We haven't used one. I remember that my mom used one with my younger sister for a little while. Our two-year old is a firecracker, so I'm not ruling out the possibility that it could be a helpful option for us at some point!

Have you gotten professional pictures taken of your newborns?

We've done all of these things. We got the hospital ones for our first 3 babes and have also used a professional photographer outside of the hospital a couple times. And, of course, we've taken our own as well. I just love capturing the beauty of these first days when they're so tiny and squishy. :)

Does the leprechaun visit your house?

Last year, the leprechaun set up a treasure hunt around our house. I anticipate that the kiddos will probably expect that he will do that again this year. ;)

Are you spending less personal time on social media than you used to?

I feel like this is a constant struggle. As a stay-at-home mom, I'm always trying to strike a balance between being responsive and connected to friends and family outside of my home, while trying to be completely available to my kids at the same time. It's easy to get lost in a text conversation with a friend when I'm "supposed" to be immersed in some game of make believe in real life. ;) I think it's something that I am continuously working on.

At what age did your kids understand that people don't live forever?

This is a good question. My four-year old has hit the existential question stage pretty hard core. Her: What happens at the end of the days? Me: At the end of the day, we go to bed. Her: No. What happens at the end of ALL the days? Me: Oh, I see. Hmmm. ;)

When did your child switch to a big kid bed?

We are a little all over the place here. Our oldest was probably 18 months when he moved out of the crib. Our second was closer to two-years old. Our third is now 27-months old, and is still happy as a clam in her crib. Our fourth is ready to move into it, haha, but his sister is not ready to vacate.

What is the best age for Disney World?

We took our kiddos when they were 1, 2 and 4. They all loved it. The younger two probably don't remember it well, but the oldest has great memories of it and can't wait to go back! That was good timing for us because we knew that he would love it, and the younger two would have fun and were still at an age where it was free for them to get into Disney.

Do your kids make their own school lunches?

Our oldest is in kindergarten, so I have been making his lunch. I used to make my own lunch when I was in elementary school, so I plan to have him start to make his own lunch at some point as well.

Do you take your kids out of school for vacations?

Our oldest is in kindergarten, so this has become a topic of discussion for us. I recently had a conversation with a school parent whose oldest son just started high school. Based on his experience, he really encouraged me not to hesitate to take kids out of school for a vacation in the future. He said that he and his wife used to stress about it, but have realized that none of it matters now that their son is in high school. As a new school parent, I just thought it was an interesting conversation.

Does your child do Cub Scouts or Girl Scouts?

Our oldest is in kindergarten, so we are still newbies to the school scene and everything that that entails. We signed him up for Cub Scouts, and he does seem to be enjoying it. They have had some neat opportunities and activities throughout the year.

Does Santa wrap presents?

Santa does not wrap gifts in our house. When I was a kid, he didn't wrap my presents either. At least he's consistent. ;)

When do you take down your Christmas Tree?

My husband's family kept their tree up until the Epiphany (Jan. 6). So, now he takes our tree down the first weekend after the Epiphany.

How many gifts does Santa bring each kid in your family?

This year, each of our kids received five gifts from Santa, plus stocking stuffers. Except for the newborn. Santa prorated his gifts. ;)

Does your family do "Elf on the Shelf"?

This is the first year that we welcomed an Elf on the Shelf into our house for the month of December. Our son is in kindergarten and he learned about the Elf on the Shelf from classmates and wondered why we didn't have one. My husband stepped up for Elf on the Shelf duties, and the kids had a blast with it.

Do you make family New Year's Resolutions?

I usually make resolutions. I feel like it's just a good time to reevaluate where I am at in several different areas in my life and consider what I would like to change or improve in the future.

What's the best way for a new mom to exercise?

I went on a lot of mall walks with my oldest (a winter baby!). As our family grew, we decided to join a gym that offers child care. This is a great opportunity to workout and enjoy a little time to myself while I know that the kids are also enjoying themselves in the playroom!

Do you wash your kids' new clothes before they wear them?

Haha. Um. No. ;) With my oldest, I did wash everything when he was a baby. And I do plan to wash the clothes that I've been storing for the last 6 years before our new arrival joins us soon. I know--Mom of the Year right here, you don't have to say it. ;) Otherwise, no, I don't wash new clothes before they wear them. Sometimes I take the tags off for them, though.

What age are the Harry Potter movies appropriate for?

My husband really wants to watch them with our 5-year old, but he hasn't had much interest in "real people movies" yet, so it's probably too early. I also like the idea of having him be old enough to read the books first!

When do you start your holiday shopping?

I usually try to shop throughout the year when I can to help spread the expenses out a little bit, but there also do tend to be some great deals during the holiday season that I don't want to miss out on! This year we have a new baby on the way with a Thanksgiving Day due date, so I'd love to be finished before he arrives. But, something tells me that the two of us might end up doing some late night Amazon shopping in December. ;)
