About Us

We started Upparent as regular parents wanting to make it easier to learn about places to go and things to try with our families, without the tedious research we found ourselves doing to discover these gems.

It didn’t take us long to realize that even with all of the information we have at our fingertips, no amount of “expert” or editor advice can ever really beat authentic reviews and tips from fellow parents.

In 2016, our small but mighty team set up in Chicago to create a space that could capture the recommendations parents naturally share with each other (at school pickup, on the sidelines of the soccer field, over social media) in one dedicated and easy-to-use platform.

A handful of years, a global pandemic and plenty of ups and downs later, we’re pretty excited about what we’ve built so far.

Our goal for Upparent is to give parents a way to easily share the things they love, and to organize these recommendations in a way that makes them easy to discover. That way all of us - in communities big and small, and with all our varied experiences - can find new things to try with our families any time we need a little inspiration.

When you use Upparent to find a cool local playground, an easy dinner recipe or a terrific children’s book, we hope you’ll pay it forward and recommend one of your own favorites so another parent can discover something new.

Here’s to spending less time scrolling, and more time enjoying the good stuff! Ready to get started?

Our Team

Here at Upparent, we are regular parents (not writers, editors or influencers) balancing family life and working from home. We hold our video meetings with kid interruptions, plan our working hours around school activities, and have ongoing discussions about our favorite Bluey episodes

We’re also active Upparent users, reviewing our own family favorites and checking out the things that fellow parents are sharing!
